Facebook Releases New Game App to Take on Twitch & YouTube

Facebook makes a move ahead in the gaming industry!

Investing in gaming is now a priority for us in general, as gaming is a mode of entertainment that truly connects people. It is entertainment that is not only a form of personal viewing but a form of interactive entertainment that brings people together.

The social platform taps into the growing popularity of gaming during the COVID-19 pandemic with the introduction of a new, dedicated Facebook Gaming app in the US market to take on Twitch, Twitter, and Mixer.

Facebook Gaming is free and offers gaming content, play options and groups where people can create and watch live gameplay.

There are three main elements of Facebook Gaming:

Discover: Streamers can watch new videos from the top publishers of the esports and gaming

Play: Gamers can play instant games anytime, anywhere, with no download needed

Connect: There are groups and chap options to connect with all players

The Gaming App also features a “Go Live” option, which enables users to directly stream mobile games from their smartphone to Facebook.

It excludes the need for specialized third-party software and hardware that people normally need to broadcast on platforms such as Twitch to play games.

Over the past 18 months, Facebook has been testing the software in Southeast Asia and Latin America and, as noted, with the prominence of gaming on the rise during coronavirus lockdowns, it now brings it to the next level.

Facebook has released a range of game-related tools and products over the past few years, including live-stream tips for gamers.

It has also recently released a new, simplified creation method for the tournament to promote amateur gaming events inside the app.

For now, Facebook does not include advertising in the app and monetization is relatively limited.

However, it helps people to gain money from the option of “stars” that allow fans to make one-time payments. The company says that it will soon pursue further possibilities for monetization.

As millions of its users already engage with the main Facebook app’s gaming content, the Gaming app might gain significant momentum.

Facebook’s new gaming app will add to that and offer more ways to keep gamers interested, while Facebook continues to build on its gaming credentials as its VR resources grow over time.

Online gaming is huge and it just gets bigger. This showing a surge, it makes sense for Facebook to double down on its gaming initiatives.

It will allow millions of users from their smartphones to watch and stream live games. Download Now!
