As of September 2017, there are 800 million monthly active users on Instagram. The user-base keeps growing more and more as Instagram is constantly updating the platform adding new features, add-ons….. From Focus Portrait Mode, revamped Explore Page, AR Camera Effects, Quick Reactions on live videos, slow-mo mode, Nametags, Payments feature, GoPro and Spotify Integration to Group Video Chat and Anti-Bullying measures, there is a lot more coming to Instagram screens soon.

One such update that we are really excited about is adding Spotify songs to Insta-stories. A deal between Instagram’s parent company, Facebook and Spotify will now enable Instagram to play songs, playlists and albums as part of its Stories.. Though there are still speculations on this upcoming feature, Instagram is on its way to becoming THE most popular social media platform for everything glamorous, inspiring and beautiful.

As reported by TechCrunch, Instagram will be releasing new music stickers which were found to have already existed as android app codes inside Instagram stories. This hidden code was also found to have the ‘Search Music’ function and tabs for ‘Trending’, ‘Moods’ and ‘Genres’.

With this new feature in its kitty, Instagram has again one-upped its popular rival Snapchat. Snapchat had earlier planned its foray into music but had to scrap it. This translates to now Instagram giving Musical.ly – a popular lip-sync app – a run for its money.

Here is a step-by-step categorization of how the new music feature is expected to work on Instagram:

Instagram will be able to auto-track a song or album you’re listening to on Spotify and display the song title and artist.
It will then offer you the choice to share it as a sticker (a photo or a video).
Just a tap on the ‘share’ icon on Spotify will allow you to share the playlist or soundtrack with the new ‘Sharing to Stories’ feature on Instagram.
The song will appear as a sticker on your Instagram Story that will be a deep link giving direct access to the song on Spotify while you add other filters, emojis, location and clickable hashtags to your story.

Instagram is growing to be nothing short of a dynamic, engaging and entertaining platform for individuals, brands & marketers each day. With this new feature, you can surely groove to your favourite songs on Instagram Stories while entertaining your followers. While the Spotify integration has already been announced at the Facebook F8 conference, reports claim Facebook is onto striking deals with other major record labels.

It’s time advertisers and marketers start thinking of how to utilise music and bring swagger to Instagrammers for a wider reach. Reach out to the social media team @Synclarity and know how you can optimally utilize the latest social media trends.
